How to Remove Candle Wax From a Jar
I love candles.
I have approximately 1,548 candles in our tiny little cottage home, and I always need more.
I use jars, scones, votives, tapers – you name it I have lit it.
Hmm, candles that is.ย Candles.
Birthday parties (that was for Gracie’s princess tea party above).
In the dining room.
On the coffee bar.
In the bathroom.
On the fireplace mantel.
In our bedroom.ย Oh my word help I’ve started, and I can’t stop.
And Christmas time.ย Oh Christmas time.ย Be still my candle-loving heart.

I digress but they’re just so pretty.
So I use candles all the time, but what about that pesky “end of the wick” wax that refuses to burn at the bottom?ย How do you get that out?
I’m going to tell you my secret trick that works EVERY TIME.
Ready for it?
?????
A freezer.
Yup.ย Follow along as I take you step by step, and you will never curse that pesky leftover wax again.

How to Remove Candle Wax From a Jar
#1.ย Put the jar in the freezer.
This candle from the Antique Candle Company came in an adorable mason jar (as they all do!), so when the wick was done burning I let the wax harden.ย
Then I put the entire container in the freezer.ย
Let me add that I put everything in the freezer to remove wax including table cloths, runners, books (super cute design tip – stack a couple old books at varying heights with candelabras on top).

#2.ย Stab the wax with a long sharp knife and twist slightly.
First stab it, and but the twist is important.ย
If you’re lucky the whole piece of wax will loosen from the bottom.ย If not, then continue to repeat this step.ย
Stab and twist.ย Stab and twist.ย Dancing is highly encouraged during this step.

#4.ย Fill the jar with hot water.
The last trick.ย You removed the wax but the wick is still glued to the bottom.ย Fill the jar with hot water from your kitchen sink and use the knife’s point to lift the wick from the bottom.
Wash the jar andย voila!ย ย
