Maple Cinnamon Glazed Scones Recipe

Scones started once upon a time as a Scottish quick bread and have been enjoyed with “afternoon tea” in British culture for many years.  Scones are tricky though, and there are many different versions.  So I did some research which included reaching out to friends from Scotland (thanks Duncans!), and my friend Stuart sent me a couple recipes.  After multiple attempts and changing up lots of ingredients I have landed on THE. BEST. SCONE. RECIPE.
Grab a hot cup of coffee, and enjoy this version with the sweet maple cinnamon glaze!
Bon appetit!

A couple tips when making scones.

  • The butter must be cold.
  • Use a GoodCook Chopper to cut the butter into the dough.
  • Hand mix.
  • Do not over mix!

See how these are a little darker than my normal?  That’s because I ran out of white flour and had to use wheat.  I don’t recommend wheat flour for scones.  They lose too much of the soft, rich, buttery flavor.  It’s one of the few times I don’t bake with my normal  white/wheat mix.
