Ever since Zach and I first got married we have been making homemade breakfast on Saturday mornings, and a version of this recipe was the very first homemade breakfast I made.

Several years ago Zach started taking over Saturday morning breakfasts and now it is a special family affair. This recipe has been loved to perfection, and the secret, we have discovered over the years, to the most delicious, fluffy homemade french toast is the type of bread (plus extra cinnamon).

Our favorite types of bread for french toast are potato bread and brioche bread. Potato bread is not quite as sweet and is our go-to, but brioche bread is also delicious.

We like to top our french toast with peaches, strawberries, blueberries, powdered sugar, and of course, syrup.

You can make this recipe on a griddle or on a stovetop frying pan.

Bon appetit!
