Meal Plan #79 & Biking Buddies
Happy 4th of July and meal plan Monday!ย Zach was gone this weekend with his buddies from our Baltimore days, so it was me and the kiddos living it up.
If living it up involves piles of tissues and copious amounts of Dayquil that is. I spent the weekend keeping my distance from everyone due to a terrible head cold and laryngitis while my kids stayed busy.
This weekend we broke out our splash pad for the first time! This splash pad plus a big bag of water guns is a super fun but budget-friendly summer idea for kids.
The water collects in the pad as a mini pool – enough that the kids can splash around as well as fill up the guns.
This play date quickly transpired into a boys vs girls kind of scenario. The girls had to leap from pillow to pillow to couch without getting hit by a tennis ball. Ready set go!
I may or may not have been the original source of inspiration for this game.
Zach and his biking Baltimore buddies. When I first told Zach he could possibly get a bike you should have seen the chapter book that was the text messages from these guys. I’m not sure who was more exctied – Zach or his friends.
Matt is missing from this photo, but these guys have stayed close ever since we lived in Baltimore almost 10 years ago now. They have met up every year since then, rotating to each guy’s home town. This year it was Lancaster. I was so bummed to have been sick and couldn’t host dinner one night, but they are amazing friends and I am grateful for each of them in Zach’s life.
Boys and their bikes.
Me being sick = movie nights on repeat. This weekend it meant Sing 2 a gazillion times.
Zach and I have been reminded once again how important it is to live each day with purpose and eternal intent. A husband and father from our church was killed while cutting down a tree at his family cabin this weekend. Andrew and Zach played basketball together on Wednesdays, and 4 days ago he and his son were standing around Zach’s bike after the game chatting about motorcycles. His son is about Gracie’s age.
Please keep Amanda and her 4 kids in your prayers. We ask that God would help us to comfort and mourn well with the brokenhearted. That beauty would one day rise from ashes with glory we wouldn’t have otherwise seen. That grief would yield a deeper joy. That pain would uncover a greater hope because this world is not our home. Hallelujah.
I hope you all have an amazing holiday with friends and family. Love well today.
