Coffee Chat & New Cooks In The Kitchen
When did you start letting your kids cook in the kitchen? I have always included my kids in meal prep or baking, but for the first time this week I let Gracie and Caleb make a dish all by themselves. Completely on their own. No micromanaging the amounts or the ingredients. No supervising the mess or mayhem. It was terrifying.
We went over the baked oatmeal recipe with them, clarifying the difference between baking soda and baking powder at least 10 times, and then let them at it.
I have to say, the baked oatmeal was delicious and the kitchen was no worse for the wear. Perhaps even mores shocking was walking into Lily and Caleb CLEANING the kitchen. Lily was rinsing dishes and Caleb was putting them in the dishwasher. Who are you and what have you done with my children?
