These rare exceptions may include windows where the landscape outside warrants an unrestricted view or if the architecture of the windows themselves deserves full display.ย ย
In these cases, window treatments may be unnecessary but otherwise, they offer shade, cooling, and decorative appeal.ย ย ย
Full-length curtains, however, can be quite expensive, but with this tutorial, you can create quality full-length farmhouse-style curtains for half of the normal cost.ย ย

1. Wash the curtains
To soften the drop cloths, consider laying out the cloth on the floor and rubbing a pumice stone over the material.ย ย
The pumice stone will help to soften the coarse fabric of the drop cloths.ย Whether one chooses to use the pumice stone or not, be sure to wash the drop cloths in a washer machine with hot water, and then place them in the dryer on high heat to soften the material.ย Use softener or dryer balls as desired for added softness.

2. Measure the curtains – How curtains are measured
Have you ever wondered how curtains are measured? What is the best length? In order to determine the appropriate length for a curtain, a general rule of thumb is to place the curtain rod 4 inches from the ceiling, and then for added flair, the curtains should “skirt” the floor.
This curtain design will elevate the look of a room and also make the room appear larger due to the apparent height of the curtain.
Measure the existing curtain rod or new decorative rod is approximately 4 inches from the ceiling.ย ย
Lay the drop cloth on the floor 9 ft high and 6ft wide and fold the top edge forward at approximately 7 inches if you are hanging these 9×6 drop cloths from an 8 ft ceiling..ย

Hang the curtains on the curtain rod.ย Consider changing the style of the curtain rod finial as desired to add further decorative appeal.
For optimal design, the bottom of the curtain should lightly sweep the floor.ย ย
