Meal Plan #91 & Fall Scent Hacks
Happy meal planning Monday! Enjoy this week’s healthy recipes and 4 easy fall scent hacks to make your home smell amazing!
What does fall smell like to you? Maybe cinnamon, apple butter, pumpkin pie, bonfires, or crunchy leaves. Or all of the above! Bring the cozy into your home with these fall scent hacks that can be created naturally and easily to enjoy this season.
Make a simmer pot on the stove
A stove-top simmer pot is one of my favorite ways to fill the home with a yummy fall scent. It’s completely customizable and can be thrown together in minutes. Take 2 quarts of water and a handful of fruit and spices, and simmer on low for several hours. You may need to add water about every 30 minutes. My favorite combination includes apple peels, orange rinds, cinnamon sticks, and cloves.
Bake a fall treat
Nothing makes the home smell better than a freshly baked dessert in the oven. Your home smells amazing and you have something delicious to enjoy – it’s a win-win! Make a batch of pumpkin creme pies or pumpkin cake with cream cheese filling.
Make some DIY cinnamon pinecones
Grab some pinecones from your backyard or local park to make these easy cinnamon-scented decor pieces. First, bake them in the oven at 200F for 45 minutes to disinfect and dry them out. Then spray them with a combination of water and cinnamon essential oil. Place them around your home in a bowl, glass vase, or strung on a garland.
Place a reed diffuser in your home
An easy set-it-and-forget-it way to enjoy the smell of fall is with a reed diffuser. They are easy to make, smell wonderful, and double as decor. For a citrusy seasonal blend, try combining cinnamon, clove, and orange oils.
