Meal Plan #101 & Aluminum Foil Hacks
Happy meal planning Monday! Enjoy this week’s healthy recipes and 4 aluminum foil hacks to help with things around your kitchen – from baking to polishing!
If you’re only using aluminum foil for covering a casserole, you are only tapping into a small fraction of the amazing things this material can do. Here are some of my favorite hacks for saving time and effort in and around the kitchen.
Bake the perfect pie crust
Nothing is worse than a yummy pie with a burnt crust. Make sure your pie crust doesn’t burn by covering it with strips of aluminum foil. This will prevent those edges from getting overdone while the rest of your pie bakes perfectly.
Soften brown sugar
You know that bag of brown sugar sitting in the back of your pantry that is hard as a rock? You can save it! Chip off a piece, wrap it in aluminum foil, and bake it in the oven at 300F for 5 minutes.
Polish your silver
Try something called an ion exchange! All you have to do is line a pan with aluminum foil, fill it with cold water, and add two teaspoons of salt. Drop your tarnished silverware into the water , let it sit for 2-3 minutes, rinse off, and dry.
Scrub your pots
Don’t have a scrub pad? Crumple up some aluminum foil and scrub any stuck-on food on your pots and pans.
