Before and After Breakfast Nook With Benches
It’s hard to believe we have lived in this house for over 2 years now.
Let’s take a walk down memory lane and see how far the breakfast nook has come.
If you have been following along with our French Country Cottage fixer-upper, then you will remember the kitchen and breakfast nook during the before tour.
It was very small and crowded.
This was the dining area. Just enough space for a standard-sized dining table and not much else.
Originally a wall separated the kitchen and dining area from the living room.

Goodbye wall!
I built breakfast nook benches for the custom 5×5 ft reclaimed fir wooden table from California.
These benches are very easy to build.
Check out this DIY breakfast nook bench tutorial.
Decorative paneling on the bench is on, and the flooring is down.
We bought two skids of reclaimed brick from a local greenhouse, and Zach cut the thin brick himself.
It was grueling work, but the end result was totally worth it.
Grouting the brick!
The Venetian Pottery Barn chandelier is my favorite light fixture we have bought at our 3 fixer-uppers to date.
It will be coming with us when we build Our French Country home if it’s no longer in stock!

And finally, one of my favorite views in this house!
By the way, those two farmhouse-style kitchen benches were only $70 on Amazon.

What do you think? Would you consider adding a breakfast nook in your kitchen?
Oh my goodness, Ahna!
Great makeover! The brick wall makes the perfect background for your cozy nook. I don’t blame you for holding on to that chandelier – beautiful! What a great place to sit down and enjoy a meal with the family. I do hope you’ll be sharing this at Homestyle Gathering! Have a wonderful day!

Wowza, that looks fantastic! Love the brick. Glad you didn’t skimp out and put up fake brick wallpaper which sounds like something I’d do. Enjoy your new space. And what a good momma to let the little’s write on the wall. Good memories. ๐
Thanks Cindy!
Hi Ahna!
I’m stopping back by to let you know you’re one of my features this week at Homestyle Gathering. Thanks so much for sharing. I hope to see you at the party this week.
