Why You Need To Make Family Bucket Lists
Enjoy life and take a moment to create family bucket lists using the included printable and check out our lists, because hey, YOLO.

Many of you know that we are in the process of wrapping up the renovations on this home (our 3rd fixer-upper) as we prep to put it on the market.
We will be moving into a rental home until we find a property and build the French Country home I have designed.
For the first time in 8 years, I will be in a home that I cannot renovate or fix up, and as strange as that concept is, I recognize the extra time that reality will give me.
I have decided instead of using that extra time to focus on my business, which is what the practical side of me says to do, I am going to focus on checking off bucket list items that only qualify as non-productive fun.
Then I thought why not create family bucket lists – a list for each member of the family to write down their bucket list ideas.
Initially, we all sat down at the table with papers from my grocery list pad and created our bucket lists.
I can’t wait for Gracie to look back on her bucket list. #9 and #11 ๐
I’m good with everything on Zach’s list with the exception of 1. Any guesses which that might be? Read to the end ๐
Then there’s Caleb’s list. He put in the time I will give him that.
Read to the end to print off the much prettier printable that I made for you and use it as a family activity to create family buckets lists together!
Now to my bucket list. I have you all to keep me accountable!
Family Bucket Lists – YOLO
1. Learn JuJitsu.
Maybe I have watched too many action movies, but I have always loved the idea that should the need arise, I could defend myself or someone I loved with some basic martial arts skills.
I already plan on having my girls take a self-defense JuJitsu class one day, so I might as well get the ball rolling myself.

2. Take a hip-hop class.
If you follow me on Instagram, then uou have probably seen our random family dance parties on IG stories.
It started years ago when Zach was coaching football, and I was juggling working in the ER, being back in school for my second masters, pregnant with my 3rd and mom to two under 3.
In an effort to stay awake until Zach got home from practice (usually not until 7p) , I found that blasting pop/hip hop music kept me awake through dinner time. As the kids got older this turned into the inevitable dance party because who can possibly stay still with Ed Sheeran crooning over the speakers?
I danced in high school, but it never included hip hop. I would like to take a class so that when I break it down in my living room I kind of look like I know what I’m doing.

3. Take tennis lessons.
Tennis is infuriating.
It is a little like volleyball. You can be the most athletic person in the world, but if you don’t know the proper technique and play regularly you simply end up swinging harder and swearing louder.
That being said, tennis is one sport I would love to play on the regular and would even consider investing in a multipurpose court on our property one day.
Thankfully this is also one of Zach’s bucket list items because it is not a single player kind of game.

4. Take horseback riding lessons.
Horseback riding lessons is another shared bucket list item between Zach and myself. If I had the money and inclination I would absolutely have a property with horses. I can’t think of a better way to clear my head or let off steam then on the back of one of God’s most beautiful creatures.
My mom grew up with a horse (you can see my grandparents’ beautiful farm HERE), and my SIL, Abby, was an equestrian major in college and trains horses for a living.
So I guess you could say horses run in the family. Kind of.

5. Learn how to surf.
There is a good possibility I may be able to check “learn how to surf” off of the bucket list this summer!
My sis and I have been talking about a road trip, and I mentioned going somewhere that we could take surfing lessons for a week.
Do you have any recommendations? East coast? West coast? We are all ears!

6. Perform in a choir again.
Saying horses run in the family may be a bit of a stretch.
To say that music runs in the family, on the other hand, is not a stretch at all. You can read some of our family music history HERE.
Since college, I have still been involved in music in some way, shape, or form – church choir, special music, leading worship on Sunday mornings, etc.
As much as I love doing music at church, it is not the vocally challenging arrangements that I performed through high school and college.
My bucket list goal is to perform in a semi-professional capacity again with 8 part harmony and vocally challenging arrangements.

7. Raise $100K for adoptive families.
Last year we hosted an adoption gala to raise funds and share local adoption stories, and my goal after we bring our son home is to turn it into an annual event that would raise funds for other adoptive families. I would love to be able to say in my lifetime that I raised over $100K to bring more orhpans home to their forever families.

8. Play the guitar more.
The year between college and when I moved to Baltimore I taught myself how to play the guitar.
I have played on and off for years, but I would love to play more regularly and actually feel proficient.

9. Get a monthly massage.
I love massages, and deep tissue massages are great for releasing muscle tension that can ultimately contribute to neck and back pain.
I want to efficiently streamline my time so that I can incorporate a monthly massage into my schedule.

10. Grow a big vegetable garden.
I love the idea of growing my own food.
The idea.
Practically, I’m not willing to raise chickens or animals like a traditional farm, but I do LOVE the concept of growing a beautiful, large vegetable garden.
Chip and Joanna Gaines style.
Remember Zach’s bucket list? The only one I cannot support is #2. Own a motorcycle. I have taken care of too many men in the ER whose bodies end up looking like they’ve gone through a meat grinder thanks to those death traps.
Ok, my friends, now it is YOUR TURN.
Print off bucket lists for everyone in your family and keep each other accountable.
