When we bought our third fixer upper one of the highlights was that it came with a huge Trex deck on the back.

I was so excited to power wash this baby and create a beautiful outdoor living space, and one of the first things I did was figure out how to add lighting to the deck so that we could see where we were going when it was 10p at night.

After lots of searching, I found solar-powered LED deck post cap lights by GreenLighting.

As long as you have traditional deck posts (4×4 or 5×5), these are for you!

Here is a close up of the post. Ours is a standard 4×4 post, and there are 10 around our deck.

If you have a 5×5 post, then you want these solar cap lights.

The cap light will slide onto the top of the post, and then you take the screws that come with it and screw through the pre-drilled holes on 2 of the 4 sides.

And that is it.

I was truly amazed at how much light was generated by these solar-powered post lights. To note, we have a huge tree in our backyard, and the deck is north facing so we don’t even get a ton of sun on the deck.

Check out how they looked at 10p.

I couldn’t believe how bright they were. Even with the lights off in the house, it was the perfect amount of ambient lighting.

What a great idea! My husband and I are currently renovating our deck and just rented a dumpster which was a lifesaver. But now that we have a new deck we want some lighting without all the wiring headaches. This was such great inspiration for that. Thank you!
