It’s time for another before and after! Woohoo!
I have owned this bookshelf since I graduated from college, and I couldn’t even tell you where I got it from.
I can tell you, however, that it has been painted multiple times and used for a variety of purposes – it’s current home being the girls’ bedroom.
As evidenced by the freehand drawings here on the side.

To Get This Look You Will Need:
- 100/220 grit sandpaper
- Orbital hand sander
- Dixie Belle Mini angle brush
- Dixie Belle Dessert Rose Silk All-In-One Paint
- Leftover Wallpaper
- Dixie Belle Applicator pad
- Dixie Belle Au Naturel Voodoo Gel Stain
- Dixie Belle foam Stencil Brush
- Dixie Belle Fairies Stencil
- Dixie Belle Saltwater Silk All-In-One Paint
- Satin clear coat shellac if desired to seal and finish

#1. Sand down the sides of the shelf.
Use 100 or 220 grit sandpaper to sand down the sides down to the natural wood. Wipe off the residual dust from the entire piece with a tack cloth.

#2. Paint the inside of the shelves with DB Desert Rose.
Dixie Belle Desert Rose Silk All-In-One Paint is a really pretty reddish pink that isn’t quite as bright in rel life as it appears in the pictures. The video is actually a more accurate portrayal of the color.

#3. Glue the wallpaper onto the shelves.

#4. Stain the exposed wood with DB Au Naturel Voodoo Stain.
I really loved this stain.
On the left is with the stain. On the right is without.
The Dixie Belle Au Naturel Voodoo Gel Stain does an amazing job at neutralizing any yellow undertones of the wood. I highly recommend watching the full YouTube video because you can get a much better picture of what the stain looks like going on.

#5. Apply DB Saltwater Paint To the Fairy Stencil.
These fairy stencils are the cutest! They would look super cute along the sides of a dresser, a nightstand, or inside a girls closet.
