Meal Plan #83 & My Grandfather’s 90th Birthday
Happy meal plan Monday! This weekend we celebrated the 27th year of Cousins Camp on the farm along with my grandfather’s 90th birthday.
We came home from two weeks at the beach and jumped right into a weekend with my cousins to celebrate my grandfather’s 90th birthday.
Initially Cousins Camp on the farm used to be 9 cousins, of which I am the oldest and my grandparents. There were no parents allowed.
Now with spouses, there are 14 of us with 8 children of our own plus 2 in our hearts coming through adoption.
Now instead of playing kickball with Grampa as the all-time pitcher, we play competitive 6 v 6 volleyball. Despite my siblings and I being the only ones who ever had real instruction (we all played in high school), this is not your typical “backyard ball” due to a resoundingly athletic family.
Case in point. Look at that vertical. I’m just a little, scratch that, a lot jealous. It is worth noting, however, that I am still trying to block my cousin’s hit despite my vertical challenges.
We celebrated my grandfather’s 90th birthday, so the whole family (minus one in Montana) joined us for the party!
There is always lots of laughter and lots of food.
We are working on getting my grandparent’s set up on the imPERFECTly emPOWERed podcast to chat all about Cousins Camp, how they got started, what inspired them to start it etc. Stay tuned!
Our kids don’t have 1st cousins yet on either side, so we are very grateful for their wonderful 2nd cousins!
We missed Caleb and Owen yet who are also really close in age!
What is true wealth? It is leaving a legacy that money cannot buy. Living a life that inspires 3 generations after you to reflect the same love, kindness, and hope of Jesus that restores broken hearts and renews anxious minds.
Grateful for this multigenerational legacy (from both sets of grandparents). ?
