Happy fall ya’ll! This is my favorite time of year in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The cool breeze with a hint of moisture in the air blended with the aroma of freshly cut grass – you can almost smell the leaves changing colors.

This DIY Thanksgiving tree craft is a lovely way to spend time together as a family, practice gratitude, and make a beautiful, budget-friendly centerpiece for your table this fall.

    1. Collect sticks and leaves from your backyard, and place the sticks into a vase.

Make sure not to break the twigs until you know which vase you are using. Leave half the length of the twigs sticking out of the top and arrange accordingly.

    2. Ask your family what they are grateful for. Write the answers on the leaves with a permanent chalk marker.

Be specific. Yes, I am grateful for hope. I am also grateful for coffee and pivoting toilet paper holders. Learn to be specific when you practice gratitude and learn to count your many blessings even in the smallest of details.

Any extra leaves that don’t have a stem can be dropped into the vase for added color.
