5 COZY BEDROOM ESSENTIALS FOR KIDS
Happy Tuesday friends!
We got yet another snow storm here in Lancaster, PA yesterday, and I do not know about you, but I am ready for spring and sunshine.
The snow is beautiful, but it is COLD. So.very.cold.
In fact, if you look closely out the windows in all of these pics you can see the snow coming down.
It felt like perfect timing to partner with Wayfair to bring you a post all about how to make a kid’s bedroom feel cozy and relaxing.
These 5 essentials are used by Caleb (6 years old) on a regular basis and would be applicable irrespective of his age.
I hope you find these ideas helpful as you consider how to make your kid’s bedroom a cozy and relaxing retreat!
5 Cozy Bedroom Essentials for Kids
#1. Clip-on Reading light
These little clip-on reading lights were a Christmas present for each of the kids.
All 3 of my children have gotten into the routine of reading a book or writing in a journal after they are tucked in and the lights go out.
The rule is they are not to get out of their beds and play with toys, but they may read and write with their reading lights.

#2. Family photos
This may seem silly, but it is a sweet comfort of home at bedtime to be “surrounded” by photos and frames of those you love.
Have some fun and let your kids pick out a frame and the photo they want by their bedside.
I love that Caleb picked this one. When did these kids get so big?

#3. Wall-Mounted Book Baskets
As I mentioned Caleb loves reading in bed at night, and this wall-mounted book basket is the perfect storage for his latest favorite read!
He was very concerned that there was a basket on the top bunk as well because when we bring his adopted brother home Caleb will graduate to the top bunk, and he wanted to make sure there was a good reading set up there as well. Haha.

#4. Pull-Out Buddy Bed
My kids love having sleepovers whether it be with each other or with friends, but in our small 1400 sq.ft cottage home we do not have the space for an extra bedroom nor do we want to invest a couple hundred dollars in a pullout trundle bed.
So we re-purposed Lily’s toddler bed mattress for under Caleb’s bed, and as he and his friends get bigger we will exchange it for a budget twin mattress under the bed!

#5. weighted Blanket
Per the research, people report feeling as though they have gotten a better night’s sleep when they use a weighted blanket (to maximize this strategy keep your room temperature on the cooler side).
As a rule the weighted blanket should be 5 to 10 percent of a child’s body weight and should also fit snugly to the size of the bed (not appropriate for children under 2 years of age).
I would love to hear your ideas! What tips do you have for making a kid’s bedroom cozy?
