Happy Throwback Thursday!
When I wrote this post we were officially under contract to sell our third fixer-upper, the French Country Cottage. Since then we have been renting until we FINALLY build our forever home – a classic French Country provencal style home that I designed.
After 9 years of renovating our homes on the side, I have to pinch myself when I think that the next home we own will be the one I have been designing for the last 5 years!
Without a doubt, the room I am most excited about from a design standpoint is the kitchen. Get ready for ALL the design inspiration posts.
I know I want white kitchen cabinets, specifically painted in Alabaster by Sherwin Williams, but I haven’t landed on the exact design yet. The last couple of photos of this post are the closest design to what I envision for our white kitchen cabinets.
For white paint inspiration be sure to read my posts on the best cool white paint colors and the best warm white paint colors.
Let’s take a look at 45 beautiful white cabinet kitchen ideas that make my French Country loving heart happy!

You will see time and time again this blend of white and stained wood. Raw wood elements are one of my favorite combinations and classically French Country.
This kitchen screams French Country farmhouse with the terracotta tile flooring and exposed wood beams. The plan in our kitchen will include exposed beams running the length of the ceiling.
Love the arched window over the sink and the extra wide drawer pulls
Notcie the bar stools on both sides of the island. Interesting idea.
Instead of running the beams lengthwise on the ceiling these create boxes. The white cabinets here have a slight bit of glazing on them or possibly were distressed down to the wood.
These cabinets aren’t a true white, but look at the way they created the appearance of an armoire with kitchen cabinetry. Incorporating furniture-like elements into a kitchen is another classically French design.
This kitchen is an interesting blend of modern on the bottom with a French hint of white washed wood cabinetry on top.
Can we all take notice of the exposed brick on the ceiling in this white kitchen? Yes please.
There is a beautiful simplicity to this view, and I especially love the turn latch knobs on the cabinet doors!
These white cabinets almost have a hint of grey/green in this picture but the blend of copper accents and the veined white countertops is gorgeous.
Julie’s kitchen is widely known on the internet because of her beautiful authentic French LaCanche range. I appreciate how her cabinet color is clearly matched to her stove and notice all the hardware (even the faucet) are the same metal tone. There is less depth and dimension in this kitchen, but it is stunning in its seamless simplicity.
You will see those barstool chairs in a lot of these photos. They are a popular look in a French Country farmhouse kitchen. I love the large pendant lights here.
Hello range hood. I love how the gold-tone on the hood matches the gold-tone on the lights above the island and the hardware on the white cabinetry. I do not like the choice of island cabinetry color, but the white cabinet wall behind it is beautiful.
I am so curious to know what that wooden pullout element is in the lower cabinet to the left of the stove. Anyone else?
Mmmm, the choice of light wood accents scattered throughout the solid white cabinetry is tres chic.
The mixed and matched tones and pieces in this kitchen are quintessentially a French design. French kitchens are designed for practicality and comfort, and this kitchen begs for lots of busy hands.
Um aside from the cutest fluff dog I’ve ever seen that vintage stove with the stone backsplash and butcher block countertops is too cute!
Be still my French Country loving heart. My pulse picks up a little every time I see this Provencal kitchen. The island is a classic French blue, and the white cabinets are heavily glazed to represent an aged look, but notice how they have incorporated the dark, warm stained wood throughout in the base cabinetry and the stools? The key here is that they didn’t incorporate too many different wood tones or else it wouldn’t look as cohesive as it does.
Unlike the French Provencal kitchen above this kitchen is more of a French shabby chic style. Classic stock white cabinetry with one wood tone as noted in the gorgeous island.
Notice how all the base cabinetry in this photo appears to be drawers? It’s possible they are doors with the appearance of drawers with overlays, but what an interesting notion to have all drawer base cabinetry. That veined marble backsplash tho. 🙂
The skylight! Genius. I love the wall of floor-to-ceiling glass cabinetry.
Courtney’s kitchen from the French Country Cottage may be one of the most famous French Country kitchens on the world wide web, and if you love this view you should see the rest of her house. I want to know how she got her copper pans to look brand new. Courtney? Care to share?
Again with all those beautiful copper pots and pans! I don’t need to tell you just how French that kitchen element is.
Wow. Just wow. This kitchen with the wood beam framing around the window-lined sink bump out stops me in my tracks EVERY TIME.
I mean look at it. And can we talk about the built-in fridge to the left of the sink with stained panels to match the raw wood beams? <sigh> This comes as close as can be to aesthetic perfection.
I love the dimension in this kitchen. The wood island against the wood floor is maybe a touch too busy for my eye, but that wood LVP flooring is one of my favorites I’ve seen yet.
The barn-style doors, wood accents, and skirt under the farmhouse-style sink in this small kitchen are French Country Farmhouse PERFECTION.
I have that dish rack design saved to my folder to replicate to some degree in my own kitchen.
The cutest little kitchen ever. I love the open joist wood ceiling, and I applaud the choice of a simple butcher block cart on wheels as an island.
Now it won’t shock you that this kitchen is TOO WHITE for me, but that stove is gorgeous against the white cabinetry and the marble countertop with arched backsplash is beautiful. My design confusion with this pic is that the lower half has a classy vintage feel, but then the upper half of the wall is too blocked and modern.
Karen’s kitchen is one of my top 3 favorites to date. Everything she has done here is simply stunning.
The symmetry of her design is flawless. Note the perfectly placed matching silver platters against each wall flanking her window-lined sink. Karen, keep the coffee hot I’m on my way.
Another social media favorite is Noell Jett’s kitchen. The white cabinetry is more of a second thought in this design when you have a showstopping island like hers.
There are very few color tones in this kitchen design as the owner stuck primarily to gray and white, but they did a beautiful job warming it up with the wood floor and then matching the bar stools to the same. Add some greenery and flowers, and this is a beautifully chic kitchen.
It’s hard to tell from a picture, but if you have a standard 8 ft ceiling then this kitchen design is an excellent choice. The white cabinets with a high gloss white beadboard ceiling are a great design as they will make the entire room feel bigger.
My friend Leslie’s kitchen looks like it came right out of a movie (as does her whole house), which renders the fact that her California home has indeed been filmed in dozens of movies much less surprising. The turned legs and furniture-like appearance of the island are my favorite design element here.
Hello pretty. I love the classed-up pendants over the island.
The same barstools as the above pic? What are the chances? They really are unique.
Ok, the next couple of photos are going to show you some sneak peek elements of what you will find in our future kitchen.
This white kitchen is laid out very similarly to how ours will be. I believe our island will be approximately 9 ft long and creates a galley-like kitchen design. If this was our house the door to the left of the stove will be our pantry and the doorway there on the right side of the kitchen wall will go back to a hallway that leads to our master suite, the laundry/craft room, the back stairs, the garage, and the home gym.
We will also have a breakfast nook at the end of the kitchen as this one does. One difference here is that we will have a large range opposite the sink, not a stovetop as this kitchen does. Behind me would be our dining room.
Ours will open up into the great room just like this.
Our kitchen cabinets will be painted in Alabaster by SW just as Allie’s from Farmhouse 4010 is here. We will also likely use reclaimed Chicago brick as she did except ours will also extend to the backsplash along that entire back wall. Notice those beautiful chairs again?!
Ok ready to see my favorite French white kitchen cabinet design?
Boom. <sigh> So pretty. Now mine won’t have the wood fleur de lis overlays you see above. It will be more like the kitchen cabinets below.
Yes, yes, yes. Notice the subtly scalloped details in the upper glass cabinets as also seen in the footers at the base. The picture above is as close to my kitchen cabinet design as anything I have seen yet, and of course, I can’t find the source. If you know where this kitchen can be found please let me know!
